There is little to like about the way this practice is run; receptionists and admin staff make a virtue of being obstructive and unhelpful . Their manners also leave a lot to be desired. As for the 'new appointment system' - it is a farce. My constructive suggestion is that you re-engage with your patients and their families and stop hiding behind a front desk team whose sole aim is to limit access to the services available. If this is the best Midhurst can do, I despair.

The new appointment system may work for patient's who are at home during the day but does not if you are out at work . It is very difficult to have a telephone consultation with a GP (who you have never met) in front of one's colleagues. Following my brief telephone consultation I was given an appointment the same day to see a Registrar who gave me a prescription. After two weeks my symptoms persisted so I telephoned for a follow up appointment but was told that my registered GP would have to contact me the following day for yet another telephone consultation. This seems a total waste of time, both my own and the GP's, as I would be reiterating the same symptoms as my previous telephone consultation. Needless to say I did not take up this arrangement.

Told by the hospital to go ring our practice nurse to arrange for a dressing to be changed following surgery. Ring Monday morning, first opportunity after the weekend and told have to wait a week for an appointment. Dressing requires changing today! So we are off to A & e to get a dressing changed because Riverbank can't get their act together, what a joke, no wonder the news is full of over run A & E departments if this is the support they are getting from the local practice.

Who thought the new appointment system was a good idea? how are working people supposed to receive a call back from their doctor? You also have no choice about who you see as you are automatically passed to the doctor you are registered with, it is hardly surprising that people are choosing to go to A & E rather than their GP. Most people only ring the surgery to make an appointment because they need one, not for the fun of it, we also like to be given a choice about who we see, and I will be looking to register with another surgery.
